Today I have my thinking cap on. Well, I wear that cap every day but most of the time, the ideas coming from that said cap evaporate into thin air. On good days I think I can hold onto 20% of my thoughts, and that is a lot to work with. Keeping 25% would make me go gaga. Maybe it already has. So, the thoughts I had revolved around wargaming…as I am that. It also encompasses most of my spare time so nothing unusual there. Lately the train (choochoo) of thought is crossing a different beloved track of mine. I also am deeply interested in how human nature works.
And yes, plenty of stuff to learn there. Why? Well, I do believe I am almost blind on that matter. I never get how humans work. You see, my wife and me, we have this reoccurring conversation. Most couples do and I’m sure you have had the same conversation too. “What will I do when I win the lottery?” Recognize it? We do that on a monthly basis. Besides quitting our own teaching jobs and building a school of our own, we also talk about getting a full check-up. Not only tubes down every orifice imaginable, but also the mental and social sides that make up our “charactersheet” of being human. Where am I on the spectrum? How much ADD, ADHD, ASS and things ending on -exia do I carry with me? I want a roadmap off me, so I can understand me. Pilot this vessel better. Maybe then I understand other humans better.
Before you refresh the page to make sure you aren’t stranded on a philosophy website, there is a point I want to make about this…and gaming. You see, we all play the same game. We all try, at least I very much hope so, to leave the table making sure our opponent and ourselves had the most fun possible. We all approach said table as individuals however. All different lives and goals. Different opinions and beliefs. Different upbringings and social backgrounds. Different senses of humor and different languages. Different ages and different cultures. Different people trying to like the same game. And mostly we succeed in that. Sometimes we do not. Also that is being human.
Today I’m tired of being human. It takes most of your energy and leaves you with a desire to slump down in front of a screen with a bottle of wine and a bag of salty snacks. The length we go to just to be able to play games, it’s frightening sometimes.
So, how do you start a game? What do you get from it and what do you need?
Reach out to me on Discord. I’m always open to trying being human.
